Ok so not just not training, as if you’re not training anyway, that’s another problem to address!
No, what I mean is that this “winter” for my triathlon training, I’ve been really focusing on my running and cycling as my swimming, whilst always needs improvement, I know that with a bit of time back in the water I’d be up to speed no problem.
Alas… I was not!
So I’ve really been focusing on increasing distance and getting stronger with my running to run a more consistent 5-10km.
With my cycling, I’ve been hammering the watt bike to monitor my power and try and get that more consistent and distance.
The last two months have been pretty good with this considered amount of training on the bike and run having recently set some of my best times out on a regular bike route. So I can’t complain.
As I mentioned though, my swimming has taken a bit of a back seat for the last few months. I’ve had lots of swims with my 4 year old, who’s starting to get a regular 25m front crawl (!!) but otherwise I’ve don’t nothing much.
I had a bit of time today and went for one of my interval sessions over 1500m and it was TOUGH! Like out of breath tough. Like get me out of the pool and to the hot tub tough!
So lesson learned… as much as I still want to concentrate on the run and bike for my tri training this winter, I mustn’t neglect the swim too!
