Inspiring others

It’s been a while since I’ve written on TriPals. It’s been a busy few months. Works busy. Kids are busy. Life is just busy. But also I’ve been focusing on other things. No, I’m still in love with Tri, but I’ve been spending time getting RunPals up and going and concentrating on getting my Triathlon coaching qualification. That’s right… I’m getting into coaching.

And yesterday I did!! Put group passed and we’re now coaches!

We had an awesome group of people all coming together to help inspire the next generation of triathletes, whether that’s kids, adults, parathletes or anyone else that wants to give it a go. Thanks to Scott and Bridget, they helped get us all over the line and we can start our first foray into life as British Triathlon Coaches. That’s pretty cool.

I never would have thought that 3.5 years ago when I could barely run 1km, had never entered a run, bike or swim race before, let alone a Triathlon, that I would be contemplating now what future I could have in Triathlon.

If it wasn’t for my original TriPal Rachel, I wouldn’t be writing this very blog. She was the first to plant the seed in my head that we should enter a tri, and so we did. The rest is history.

If it wasn’t for my friends like Emily who inspired me over my first tri finish line looking down on me from above, or Holly and Tor who constantly motivate me more than they realise, or my friends at Action For Kids who are ridiculously amazing and inspire people like me to reach new goals everyday. Or my friend Pops who completed our first Super Hero tri together last year. Or of course my amazing Wife and wonderfabulous little boys, for bearing with me whilst I go through a mid tri crisis 😀 Without them encouraging me to keep training, to keep going, or on some occasions to allow me out, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy this amazing sport and community as much as I do today.

With all of these people’s support, whether they realise it or not, they are inspiring me to do more. Inspiring me to inspire others. Inspiring me to do something different. Inspiring me to make sure I get the most fun out of life that I can.

So… now I’m a Tri coach, what’s next….

Well, maybe need to ask why I wanted to become a tri coach instead.

Per my earlier comments, I want to inspire (noticing a theme here? That’s probably the most times I’ve used the word inspire one one article before) and encourage people to get off their keesters and get outdoors enjoying life. I want people from any walk of life; young, old, rich, poor, disabled, able; whatever it is, to have some fun, get together and create some amazing new communities. I want to help show people that anyone can do it. Anyone can enjoy Triathlon.

I want to create Action For Kids first #TriTeamAFK (but they don’t know it yet) 😀😀

Fundamentally I want people to have some fun and get fit along the way.

So exactly what’s next, I’m not sure, but I’d love to continue to build our TriPals, RunPals and SwimPals communities and we’ll see what happens along the way.

If you want to get involved, just give me a shout.

Cheers

Matt
