We RAN. I mean actually RAN

Ok, so that might sound a little bit weird, especially given that we’re supposed to be running as part of our training, but… kind of unknowingly, we ran.

Not just slogging around the south downs trying to get to the finish so we could put our feet up, we actually ran. Sorry to go on about it… but I’ve literally never run before in my life (apart from school…or to get to the beach if the waves are on…) and we were picking our feet up and running!

As you can tell, I was a little bit excited about that and so was #tripal. We might have peaked a little bit early as we had a final 2km to get home, but considering that before we went out we thought we’d only slow jog a kilometer or two, I think we’ve really turned a corner and are starting to appreciate getting out there and getting the miles ticked off – more quickly each time.

A lot of it is mental and a lot of it is because we were pushing each other on. It wasn’t even as though we said “lets run fast on this section today”, we kind of both just picked up the pace and off we went. That’s why, with my limited experience, I really think it’s so important to get out there and train with a pal, that can help you, challenge you and keep you motivated when you really don’t want to leave the house. I’m almost certain that that night, I would have had dinner, put child to bed and put my feet up on the sofa if it weren’t for TriPal.

The best bit though, was getting home and then checking the analysis on Strava, I realised we had actually broken quite a few personal records (5 to be precise). I only have my past month of running to judge that on, but TriPal said the middle mile was pretty much the fastest mile she’d ever run.

Not bad TriPal, not bad.
